It’s been a long time

Since I’ve blogged here.  Or blogged about crafting at all.  I’ve been putting all my creative juices into a new side business and blog.  If you’re a teacher or know a teacher, go check it out.  If not, keep reading.

The past year I have been engrossed in this side business so much so that it’s kinda taken over my extra time in life, so that I’m not crafting much any more.

However, during our holiday break the past two weeks, I had a bit of extra time and decided to devote it to some craftiness.

I made four bean bag chairs.  Two for my niece and nephew and two for our boys.

My little helper

I got some sewing time in this morning along with some help from a little person. He helped me decide which scraps to sew together for a couple of scrappy blocks.

This held his attention for about 10 minutes, but he did go onto other activities and give me about 45 minutes of sewing time. Enough to finish the blocks. Yeah! It feels so good to have some sewing time and to finish something in the short time that it was.

[3 x 6] & 4 x 5 Bee Blocks

Here are the bee blocks from both the [3 x 6] and the 4 x 5 bees that I'll use for the front of the quilt.  I'm doing one more round of the 4 x 5 bee next quarter, in the hope of being able to finish this quilt.  I'll most likely have to make one more block for myself.

The biggest question, is sashing or no sashing.  And, what color, if yes?

Threads

We were doing some rearranging a couple weeks ago and my thread was just within reach of some tiny fingers that like pulling things down from table tops.

Liam is always getting into my sewing drawers and pulling fabric down from the table.  I've cleaned out most of the drawers so that they only hold scraps.  But, do have a pile of fabric waiting to be put into storage bins that I keep laying on a table within reach.  Liam pulls it down a couple times a week.

Anyone else have little ones with busy fingers?  How do you keep them out of your sewing drawers when space is an issue? (My sewing area is in our dining room.)

Blogging Experience

So, I am attempting this blogging experience with my knitting stories. I have been knitting since August 2005 and reading blogs for about the same amount of time. I have gained so much knowledge, bouts of laughter, and new things to knit from the blogs I have read. It made me want to start my own blog. So I am trying out new software and seeing if I can make it work.

I’m using a new application that Apple just came out with in their iLife ’06 suite, iWeb. It’s an easy application to use; however I can’t manipulate it as much as I want. It’s kinda constrictive, but hey, I can publish it with my .mac account which I already own. One feature that is lacking is that it doesn’t support comments, so if you want to leave a comment, you need to email me. That’s the biggest downfall.

The yarn in the picture on the left is the softest yarn I have ever felt. I am planning on making it into a scarf, double knit. However, I told myself that I had to finish other projects first before I started this one. Discipline. It’s all about discipline.
